Desperate by Sarah Mae & Sally Clarkson

Desperate-3D

An excellent book for moms of littles, this book was so hard to put down! The authors take you on a precious journey of encouragement from start to finish. Sarah Mae writes to you that she understands because she is where you are! Sally Clarkson’s part is to tell you she has been there, and you will survive! She has great advice and practical tips, being the “older woman” with the experience. And at the end of each chapter, there is a link or a code to scan with your smart phone, with a video to give you a little extra insight.

Before the first chapter was over, I had already cried and been encouraged so much! But it didn’t stop there. Each chapter was filled to the brim. The fact that God gave your children to you, and gave you to them, helped me greatly. I am exactly the mom that God wants my children to have, and God will give me the strength to raise them.

Being Intentional

What are some goals you have for your children? What do you want your family to look like, and accomplish 10 years from now? We can’t control everything, but if you have specific ideas of what you want for your family, set goals, and be intentional today to work toward them.

Get Help

Women aren’t meant to go it alone. Even if you have a wonderful husband supporting you, which I do, you still need someone else who understands. Don’t wait for them to find you. Go find them! Find other moms who are in the same stage of life and encourage each other. Seek an older woman who has already raised her children. She can help you like no other.

Let the Lord Be Your Formula

Like me, many moms want the “perfect formula” of what to do. Though you desire one, you also know it is impossible! Every child is completely different, and just when you think you’ve got it figured out, everything changes again. There are so many advice books and blogs. Each person will tell you something differently. And though you can get some good advice from others, ultimately don’t worry about how others think you should raise your children. Let the Lord guide you. Spend time with Him in His Word and learn to follow His heart. He is the best Father, and He can teach you to be the best mother.

I could go on and one. Basically, if you have small children at home, this book is for you!

“Motherhood is such a high calling that it should come as no surprise for it to be fraught with stress, difficulties, and challenge.” ~ Sally Clarkson

I received this book free from the publisher. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255.
