This book is about FBI special agent Serena Jones, who specializes in art theft. This adventure begins when Serena’s tough-as-nails, well-to-do Nana asks for Serena’s help with her friend’s forged painting. Serena hates to get involved because her Nana is rarely pleased with her. But she accepts the case and can’t imagine how difficult the case will be to crack, or who will be endangered in the process.
As Serena goes through her list of suspects, the case grows and takes many twists and turns. Gladys’ own children are suspects, and as the story unravels, the identity of the forger becomes clear, and the person behind it is the one Serena least expected.
In the end, Serena and her Nana make peace, and Serena discovers why her Nana has held her at arms’ length all these years. Also, her neighbor Nate and partner Tanner, both seem to have sweet feelings for her. So, the next in the series should have the reveal for that!
I usually love Sandra Orchard’s titles, but this one was a little more difficult to follow. I’m not sure why. But I even re-started it to give it a fair try. I did eventually get to that “can’t-put-it-down” mode, but this one wasn’t her usual nail-biter.
I was given a free copy of this book by the publisher, in exchange for an honest review.
